Entity Limit B (ELB): The Entity Limit in gameplay that includes most enemies.This limit is called 'Entities' on the Part Limits page.Entity Limit A (ELA): The Part Limit in the Course Maker that includes most enemies.Also called a Death Block or Death Contraption, or rarely A Sit Here And Die Button.

Disrespect Block: A block in a small space that moves back and forth on a short track, as a cheap mechanism of anti-softlock, or for punishing the player for spaghetti (below).In Super Mario Maker 2 though, they appear in front of the door. In Super Mario Maker, vines would go behind the doors, making them completely hidden.

Dick vine: A Vine placed on top of or near a door to prevent the player from entering the door, as pressing up would cause you to climb the vine instead.

Dick move: A setup intended to annoy the player.

In this case, a developer exit is required to even upload it. While this is normally considered cheating on the part of the level maker, sometimes it is truly impossible to perform the clear check on from all checkpoints, even though the level is possible to beat the intended way.

Developer exit (Dev exit): A hidden path that is used by the developer to pass the clear check when they lack the ability to pass it the normal way.

Developer block (Dev block): A Hidden Block that players would not be able to find easily that allows the creator to make part of a level easier when clear checking.

Decision paralysis: A form of spaghetti (below) in which the player completely refuses to move.

Death pipe, death door: A Pipe or Door that leads directly to death.

Damage boost: Using invincibility frames (below) to bypass an obstacle.

CP1 (verb): To send the player back to the first checkpoint, removing a large portion of their progress.

CP0: A checkpoint that puts the player at the start of the course.

Choke (Choking): A situation where you fail at a part of a level that seems easy usually happening after having cleared it previously with little effort.

Cheese: ( main page) An oversight that allows the player to skip part of a level or make it easier.

Can also be used to refer to a rectangle of Tracks.

Carlbox: A general term for a small area that the player will get stuck in due to decision paralysis (below).

Blind jump: A jump where you can't see where you are supposed to land.

These levels usually come with the tag Auto-Mario.

Auto: A level that can be beaten by doing nothing or by holding specific buttons.

(also called Self-Destruct Lock or Forced Death Room)

Anti-softlock: A situation like a Softlock (below), but you can kill yourself, though it can sometimes be difficult.
